LinkedIn is constantly moving the goal posts. What was working for you in 2023 probably won’t be working in 2024! The Creator Economy is here to stay, but “Professional-ism” is now “People-ism”.
The vast majority of LinkedIn users aren’t staying up to date. They’re missing a crucial piece of the puzzle that will cause their marketing strategies to fall flat in 2024!
Today, I’m going to show you 8 Best LinkedIn Strategies that work for 2024 and how you can use them to keep growing on this powerful platform.
So, let’s get into it.
Some of these strategies are old classics with a fresh coat of paint for 2024, and some of them are new features altogether.
Here are the best, up-to-date, LinkedIn strategies for growth this year.
Remember I said some of these are old classics? Optimizing your profile has always been the No.1 most important strategy to set yourself up for success on LinkedIn.
But the way the platform changes from year-to-year means that how you optimize won’t always be the same.
Making sure your profile gives viewers a quick, clear view of who you are and what you offer isn’t just important for personal branding—it’s important for SEO, too.
That’s “search engine optimization” for those of you who aren’t fluent in marketing jargon just yet…
When search engines index pages, they look for keywords and other clues to rank pages based on what they think is most relevant for the person searching. Making sure your LinkedIn profile catches Google’s eye is crucial for getting traffic, and ultimately clients.
You might even consider focusing your SEO efforts on LinkedIn instead of your current website! Since LinkedIn has high domain power on Google, that means you save the 6 months to a year it takes to start getting your SEO keywords to stick!
“Yeah, yeah… I know all that” you might be thinking. This year, though, voice search optimization is big. That means making sure your profile reaches potential customers who use voice assistants to find info.
It’s especially big for local searches—in other words, people looking for businesses near them. Not only is voice search optimization great for targeting a new segment of traffic, it’s great for getting local traffic, too (which is a type more likely to convert into customers).Â
Building connections on LinkedIn is all about quality, not quantity. Sure, you can click “add connection” on every profile you come across… and see where that gets you.
Psst, each profile has around 3000-6000 connection invitations max (depending on the quality + how active your Li account is). So it’s important to grow your audience through networking + engagement!
So, focus on meaningful connections with like-minded professionals to expand your reach.
That means, engaging and contributing something valuable to the community! Only posting your own content leads to limited growth.
Posting content, and commenting and engaging with other creators’ content leads to unlimited growth!
…Which leads us to our third strategy: content is king & queen.
Similar to how it’s about the quality—not the size—of your network, LinkedIn is increasingly rewarding creators based on the quality not quantity of their content.
Gone are the days of having to post every second to ever hope to get any meaningful traffic. Instead, find your authentic voice, and focus on delivering valuable insights and relatable content.
The best format isn’t posting at precisely 3:29am with exactly 7 hashtags… it’s being authentically you.
Showcase your awesome personality. Share your CEO origin story!
The algorithm is however increasingly favorable to multimedia, so don’t shy away from those video posts!
Why?
How about because our brains process visuals 60,000x faster than text. Plus, we retain 80% of what we see, 20% of what we read, and 10% of what we hear.
Like I mentioned before, it’s all about community building and growing your reach in 2024 on LinkedIn.
So, for that reason, you should be focusing on building leads, not closing sales on LinkedIn.
Sure, you can sell directly on the platform, but for most purposes, LinkedIn is way better as a place to create leads, build trust, and establish yourself as a community leader.
And trust me, once you’ve done that—you’ll have no problem turning those leads into sales.
Nobody likes getting pitch-slapped the minute they accept a connection invitation. Focus on quality leads, and the money will follow!
I see people far too often ignoring all the new features LinkedIn is constantly rolling out. That’s like buying a new Mercedes and using it as a storage locker. Just doesn’t make sense! But if you’re doing that, more power to you…I guess!
One of my favorite new features is the Custom Button Link.
It lets you add a call-to-action URL that appears on every post you make and message you send. Use it to invite people to “book a meeting”, “visit my portfolio”, or “sign up for my course” or “watch my free trainings”!
Another great tool is the Featured Section.
With it, you can highlight your posts, include links to external sites, and otherwise quickly direct viewers’ attention to what you’d like them to see first.
Also check out LinkedIn Newsletters. Use them to grow your audience, engage with them more deeply, and highlight it in your featured section to get new subscribers naturally!
We talked about how it’s not just about numbers. Numbers still are kinda important though… but just the right numbers.
For instance, when it comes to tracking your audience, you should be focused on your best-fit followers. This is the segment of your audience most likely to turn into actual customers.
They’re the people following you, but who aren’t necessarily your first-degree connection, and they’re ripe for the picking when it comes to converting leads!
To find out who your BFFs are, subtract your LinkedIn connections from your followers. Congrats: that’s the group you should focus on growing!
Having a high ratio of BFFs to connections rewards you with greater engagement.
The more BFFs you reach, the better your engagement will be and the faster you’ll grow.
Yes, SEO has always been important. But recently, LinkedIn users have a few new tools at their disposal for doing it effectively!
One thing to focus on is finding out how people find you, so you can target the right audience.
Under Analytics, check out your search appearance results.
What job title do the people searching for you have? What keywords did they use to find you? All of these are powerful insights that can help you fine-tune your profile to better reach the right audience.
Consistency is key, and engaging with the community is a great way to expand your reach—so why not turn your engagement routine into a daily practice?
Set aside 15 minutes each day to create content and get your voice out there. With this small chunk of time, I’m able to create one quick post and leave 5 comments or replies on other creators’ posts.
Check out this video where I explain my 15-minute growth strategy.
Over time, you’ll be shocked at how much impact just a few small consistent actions can make!
